An unparalleled
opportunity:
Subsequent to the
courthouse rampage in Atlanta Georgia where a deputy
sheriff was overpowered and a judge and a court reporter
were gunned down, security and safety has taken a
precedence in our nation's courthouses.
The Allegheny County
Sheriffs Office has a rare and unique opportunity to
receive instruction on handling aggression and violent
confrontation by one of the world's foremost experts
Daniel Verkerke.
Grandmaster Daniel Verkerke
will be in Pittsburgh for a very short time and as
courtesy to his student and long time friend Allegheny
County Deputy Sheriff Eddie Rose, he will offer his
expertise and wealth of knowledge in an unprecedented
two hour course on Thursday April 21, 2005
exclusively for the Allegheny County Sheriffs
Office.
Daniel Verkerke, very
familiar with the legal perimeters of "reasonable
force", will introduce, demonstrate, and instruct
deputies how to master, manipulate and control a
subject's center of gravity without the necessity of
strikes or kicks. Deputies will learn how to be safer
in a violent confrontation. They will also learn how to
neutralize aggression by effective movement and
positioning. No contact will be made in this class, and
uniforms and duty belts can be worn.
