Below list a few highlights for each year of Grandmaster Verkerke's involvement in the martial arts.

 

 

2003 Conducted numerous seminars in Asia, Europe, USA and Canada. Appointed Canadian Ambassador for the International Martial Arts Research Institute while in Malaysia, Received Grandmaster of the year award at the 1st World Martial Arts Black Belt Hall of Fame in Asia, Received the title Honorable Cossack of the International Organization <Cossatstvo of Ukraine> presented by General Anatoliy Popovych, Received the International Grandmaster of the Year Award in Las Vegas presented by the Hawaii Martial Arts International Society, Hosted the International Circle of Masters gathering in Cambridge, produced coverage titled Martial Arts show available in DVD, Produced Instructional video on reversals and counters to throws available on DVD.

 

2002 December - Interviewed by KarateKidz, November - produced 4 part Seicho Jutsu Black Belt Series, October conducted Knife seminar in Sault Ste Marie, Presented GM. Timmerman with the Martial Arts Medallion of Honor on behalf of the Circle of Masters during the 32nd Can Am Classics, September - filmed and produced Martial Arts music video with GM. Dan Mc Eaddy's sound tract titled "Fighting Angel". August - conducted Advanced Knife Seminar in Orlando FL. June - Hosted GM. Wasniewski from UK and held seminar for him in Kitchener Ontario. Hosted the International Circle of Masters meeting in Cambridge Ontario and filmed video coverage Produced by Bushido Productions, April  - Featured in "The Karate Voice" published in USA

2001 Held the first International Circle of Masters meeting in Canada. Formatted the Seicho Jutsu Kama System and began teaching seminars in PA. FL. NJ. USA and Ontario Canada. Produced the Seicho Jutsu Kama System instructional video on VHS and VCD. Received World Head of Family Sokeship Council's Man of the Year Award in Orlando FL. Received grading to 10th degree Black Belt Angelic Ninjutsu. Received Grandmasters presentation with the title Professor from the International Circle of Masters.

2000, Televised appearance of the Seicho Jutsu demo team for a martial arts charity function. Featured in "The World's Martial Arts Elite" book. Conducted seminar / demonstration for the W.H.F.S.C's International Martial Arts Hall of Fame and received the Millennium Leadership Award. Accepted position as the Communications Manager for the World Head of Family Sokeship Council.

1999, Formed the Combat Arts Club, May 16 Received "Humanitarian" of the year award from Martial Arts Masters, Pioneers & Legends Hall of Fame. Conducted numerous seminars throughout the year. Sept. 4. Received "Grandmaster Instructor" of the year award as well as "Outstanding Contribution" at the World Head of Family Sokeship Councils International Hall of Fame. Received a plaque / clock for "Unconditional Time And Contribution to the Martial Arts" on behalf of the International Circle of Masters and the World Head of Family Sokeship Council.

1998, March 2nd. Received membership "Goshin Jitsu Kai Kenpo Karate Association" was also appointed (Canadian Director) March 28th. Received membership "World Jug-Tai Head Society / Founders Society of International Styles" (Greece), May 17th. Inducted into the "Martial Arts Masters, Pioneers & Legends Hall Of Fame" received (Grandmaster of the year award) as well as membership into their council. Sept. 5th. Inducted into the W.H.F.S.C. International Martial Arts Hall of Fame (Florida) "Grandmaster Instructor of the Year" award.

Dan rank recognition in Judo from "Amateur Judo Association of Great Britain., Oct. 1st received shidoshi certification "Commando Kai Ninjutsu" Oct. 28th received membership with "Master Martial Artists International., Received personal membership with "American Bujinkan Association.", Published "Freestyle Martial Arts Magazine "Dec. 1st. 1994, Wrote produced and starred in "The Emblem Theory" an instructional tape on the foundation of Seicho Jutsu., Began teaching and choreographing stunt fighting to senior students., Completed an action film making course in New York. Produced, directed and choreographed "It's the Real Thing" a stunt fighting demo tape. Awarded 9th. Dan Black Belt Ninjutsu sanctioned by the Scientific Martial Arts International Association - certified by Grandmasters: Dr. Dan McEaddy and Joseph Versocki 10th. Dans recognized by the W.H.F.S.C., Received membership and appointed Canadian representative for the "Circle of Masters".

1993, Wrote produced and starred in 5 instructional videos covering: Knife, Hanbo, Nunchaku, Double Sticks, and Black Belt requirements., Second television appearance - featured in Spotlight C.K.C.O. for martial arts accomplishments., Toured England promoting Seicho Jutsu, and appointed a British representative., Inducted into the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame in Cleveland Ohio.

1992, Marked his first feature appearance on television, also choreographed fight scenes and played a small role in a movie. Featured in two more newspapers and accepted position as Director of Martial Arts training at the Black Dragon a 3.8 acre martial arts training and recreational facility.

1991, Maintained duties as Chief instructor for the School of Defensive Arts and President of the National Freestyle Martial Arts Organization while continuing to conduct seminars of his art. Conducted a four day martial arts demonstration in Kitchener Ontario.

1990, Accomplished one of the highest goals an instructor could attain when his senior student achieved the rank of Shihan - (Master Instructor). Continued to provide Black Belt instructors from his own school to teach children's self defense for the public schools and cities community services as well as traveling to other schools demonstrating his art.

Wrote and published Spiritual Development Enlightenment of Life. Featured in two more newspapers. Conducted Nunchaku seminar, Hanbo seminar, Elemental powers seminar, and a 5 day summer training course on Seicho Jutsu. Provided Neighborhood Associations with Black Belt instructors to teach children's self defense. Continued demonstrating Seicho Jutsu for public schools through cities community services.

1988, Appeared as feature instructor for the local newspaper. Promoted the Canadian Martial Arts Festival. Toured the Netherlands promoting Seicho Jutsu. Promoted the Philippine Martial Arts Seminar. Featured in the Arnis, Kali, Escrima newsletter in New York. Received acknowledgment and best wishes for future success from the Ministers of National Defense, Fitness & Amateur Sport, and the Prime Minister of Canada. Inducted into the "Who's Who in the Martial Arts Elite Group" and featured in the book. Conducted Spiritual Quest Seminar on self development, and the first elemental powers seminar - (motion through emotion). Wrote produced, directed and starred in an instructional personal protection video for the Executive Protection Agency. Began demonstrating Seicho Jutsu at public schools.

1987, Opened his second martial arts school on Main Street while still maintaining the Hombu Dojo on Water St. Cambridge Ontario Canada.

1986, By this time the National Freestyle Martial Arts Organization spread Internationally to America, Europe, Asia, and South America. Master Verkerke continued teaching at the S.D.A. and writing for the N.F.M.A.O.

1985, Remained Chief instructor for the School of Defensive Arts and President of the National Freestyle Martial Arts Organization. Began promoting Freestyle Martial Arts through Inside Kung Fu magazine. Held the first Seicho Jutsu seminar in Paris Ontario.

1984, Opened the Hombu Dojo 91 Water St. (S) Cambridge, Ontario (School of Defensive Arts). Wrote the Freestyle book of Philosophy. Founded the Canadian, American, and National Freestyle Martial Arts Organizations.

1983, After receiving his honorable release from the Canadian Armed Forces Master Verkerke began teaching Seicho Jutsu to private students at the Y.M.C.A.

1980 - 1982 Master Verkerke furthered his studies of the martial ways by serving full time as a professional soldier receiving his TQ.1, TQ2, TQ3, Infantryman, Winter Warfare and Aslt Pnr. Qualifications. He began teaching hand to hand combat at this time and served as a regimental police.

1977 - 1979 Master Verkerke studied Tae Kwon Do and Karate. Tae Kwon Do for development of kicking, and Karate for the full contact sparring because they did not allow contact sparring in the Tae Kwon Do school he attended.

1973 - 1975 accepted into first formal Judo school Y.M.C.A. Registered and licensed under the Ontario Judo Black Belt Association through 1974 and 1975.

Prior to 1973 informal Uke for older brother who was a champion Judoka in his own division. 1st. in Ontario, 3rd in Canada.
