SHIHAN EDWARD ROSE


 

 

Shihan Edwarsd Rose began his studies of Seicho Jutsu in 1996 and has continued to travel to Canada throughout the years
as a personal student of Grandmaster Daniel Verkerke. In 2005 Shihan Rose was appointed as the PA. State representative for the Non Violent System .

Occupation: Law Enforcement Officer, Martial Arts Instructor

Employment: Deputy Sheriff with the Allegheny County Sheriffs Office, Pittsburgh, Pa. (since 1989)

Law Enforcement Experience:
Detective for over 8 years in the Allegheny County Sheriffs Fugitive Squad and the Greater Pgh Fugitive Task Force, with an additional 3 years on the Sheriffs Patrol Division along with experience in the Sheriffs Transportation and Court Divisions and specialty squads.
Mr. Rose attended numerous seminars and training courses specializing in fugitive apprehension, street survival, drug interdiction, firearm tactics, and youth gang awareness. Mr. Rose has also worked with the Secret Service, Federal Bureau of Investigations, Drug Enforcement Agency and other Federal agencies throughout his tenure as a deputy sheriff. Prior to his law enforcement experience Mr. Rose had 8 years experience in the security/protection field including being a youth care counselor in Allegheny County Shuman Juvenile Detention Center for over 4 years.

Mr. Rose is also a ordain minister and certified Reiki practitioner who seeks facilitate physical, emotional, and spiritual health in all.

Contributions to the Martial Arts:
Mr. Rose was the Co-Founder and Chief Martial Arts Instructor for the Rose Athletic Club Inc. The Rose A.C. was a "not for profit" organization which provided training in American Boxing, Kickboxing, and the Martial Arts, focusing on the youth in the Pittsburgh inner-city communities, particularly delinquent and "at risk" youth. Mr. Rose is currently the Founder and Master Instructor of the ToraHana-Ryu Academy Of Self-Defense.

Mr. Rose teaches a pragmatic, eclectic system of self-defense incorporating over 28 years of experience in the Martial Arts, with emphasis on character building and social responsibility. Mr. Rose frequently does motivational talks and demonstrations at schools, community groups, and Pittsburghs Children's Hospital. Mr. Rose also teaches Olympic-style Boxing (Burley system) Mr. Rose has been teaching Martial Arts for over 22 years.
