This Months technique comes from Grand Master Daniel Verkerke of Seicho Jutsu. In this clip Grand Master Verkerke shows us how to defend against a punching attacker with a hanbo (3 ft. staff). The clip comes from a demonstration that GM Verkerke did at Martial Arts Expo 2000 in Barrie Ontario Canada in April.

1. The opponent comes in with a punch. 2. Step to the outside of the punch blocking with the Hanbo on the outside and with your other hand on the inside. 3. slide the hanbo over top of the arm and underneath the chin resting on the throat while folding the arm back over the hanbo.
4. Continue to pull down on the arm while slightly twisting your body so that the opponents back is arched. 5. Take the opponent all the way to the floor keeping firm contol over his arm.  Make sure that you leg is up against the opponents back so he can't roll out. 6. Push forward with the hanbo while keeping the arm immobile to choke the opponent.
